Hello,
I recently bought the eMachines m6811 and I do love it. But today (5 days after purchase), I have a crack on it. My question is this, can you tell from the Pic if this is the "hinge" crack everyone talks about? I ask because technically, this is not the hinge but next to it.

Thanks!

You probably still have time to exchange it at the store. I'd get it back there ASAP and get a new one, otherwise eMachines will fix it for free.

Either replace it today, or go back and buy the extended warranty and replace it in a year (with a newer/more up to date model) or both.

Welcome tot he club. It's not a structural crack, but it's annoying nonetheless.

I called emachines and they are going to fix it. It sucks to be without my laptop for awhile, but I'd rather do that then exchange it for one that could potentially have the same problem.

Why did you go the centrino route? Does the laptop you got have the same features?

You shoulda gone back to the store where you bought it and have them exchange it. I workfor BBY and we got an e-mail recently saying that there was a batch of 68xx series that had bad hinges and were particularly susceptible to that issue and we were instructed to replace the units for customers.
