Canada is so concerned about anthrax that it declares an emergency and decides it has to buy black market Cipro from India. Total number of Candians affected:

Zero infected.
Zero died.


Fast forward to April 2003.

Aproximately 260 infected with SARS
20 dead in Toronto because of the virus.

Canadas reaction? The mayor of Toronto states that he has never been madder in his life than when the WHO states that travel to Canada should be avoided and most Canadians feel that everyone else is over reacting. Am I missing something here?

Wouldnt they just buy cipro from the pharmacutical company in india, or black market as in off the street vendors? wtF?

The German company Bayer actually owns the patents to Cipro, but some of the pharmacuticals in India (and the Indian government) ignore the patents and make it any way.
