Is this the connector I need for my wireless router?

I bought this thing at Fry's. It looked like it would screw on, and it did. Now I don't know if the pin is getting contact or not. I'm just going to be soldering a wire on to it to replace the stock antenna that I lost.

If the connector doesn't screw on then it isn't going to work. If an SMA connector doesn't fit you probably have a R-TNC connector on the AP post. But rather than guess I'd recommend you find out what connector you have before buying something else and then go out and get the correct connector. Since your buying the connector only I'd recommdn you buy the antenna from the same place you get your connector and have them do it. There is not soldering with a TNC or SMA connector. Well I suppose you could solder the tip but you'll crimp the connector to the coax. No need to solder a tip on R-TNC or SMA connectors.
 
You misread my post. I said that it screws on. It's a Buffalo router and uses the same connector that 802.11 PCI cards use. I didn't intend to attach a coax connector, but just a short piece of stiff wire to replace the vertical antenna that came with the router.
 
Antenna is Not just a piece of wire.

Just find what is the type of plug that is there, anf you can find a replacment for less than $10.

Bah! Nevermind. I ordered a 6dB antenna from Buy.com

I assumed the standard antennas were just wires. I searched for info on their design but found NOTHING. All I found was instructions on making yago antennas, helical antennas, those mediocre but-everyone-makes-them cantennas, but no simple vertical antennas.
 
Improving the dbm by using Directional Antenna is easy, that is why you can find a lot of made it yourself projects.

Improving dbm with Omni Directional is a matter of specific and rather complicated design that why you would Not find self made Hi Gain Omni Directional Antenna

It was a good idea getting the Hawking Antenna.

if you look at the ends of those tubes, they arent open, so you dont point that at anything and you can see the picture they have it mounted virtically ....

Assuming that the pig tail plug matches your Hardware...

They state that it is a general Kit for Both Directional and Omni. A kit for 12dbi Directional would not yield 12dbi omni. They claim 7-9 dbi for the omni, I doubt 2-5 probably will be it.

If the $20 shipped get you only these parts.

If you have to coil our own Omni element, and for the rest of the stuff you have to run around and find PVC tunings, and what ever else is needed as shown in the picture, it is a bad deal.
