My local Microcenter has the WD Black SN850x 2TB for $169. I can barely find a quality Gen 4 1TB drive for too much less.

Here

I have one already for the PC I'm about to build (I haven't used it yet) , but darn it if it's not tempting to grab another as game and mod sizes get more and more out of control.
Thoughts? Experiences? Much appreciated!

I don't know if that's the "best deal" right now, but that's less than I paid for a WD SN770 on Prime Day.

I bought my kids the Solidigm P41 2TB for $120 at Christmas. It isn't a "top tier" performer compared to others in the benchmark tests but it's been great during real world use.

I believe the 850x was having some issues also. I think there is a thread or two here about it.

There are a couple of people that had issues but, being s small sample size I wouldn't put much weight in it.

I have a couple of 850/770's though and haven't had any issues with them. It depends more on use though. The 850 being a higher tier works great internally but, the 770 blows it away in a TB4 enclosure. Whether the X makes a difference internally is up for debate.

Bottom line though getting the price under $100/TB is a score. The speed difference only impacts OS load time and large files like games. Once loaded the speed doesn't make much difference. Once it's handed off to the GPU that's the bigger impact.

Thanks everyone! I went ahead and just grabbed it since I couldn't really find anything better in that price range, although MC did drop the price on the 980 Pro down to $179 like Amazon.
