I forgot about the resolution! Yeah, the Apple display is like 2000 x by something. That would mean a lot more real estate... Lame. =/

Watch the deal sites, read reviews on the bargain equipment. Prices are poised to drop even further, research now will mean better features and less money.

Do you plan to use it like a monitor? I mean sitting like 2 feet from it? If so that res might not be too good, if you were say 5 - 6 feet from it would be pretty sweet I think. If you have a best buy near you check out the westinghouse 37inch 1080p lcd.

It's meant to be used as an HDTV.

and as dman stated, sitting 4-6 feet away from it the TV is beautiful (I own one and love it)

It's a 32", btw.

I am just going to wait for the new Dell 30" screen. I know it's going to undercut the Apple display by a lot, has HDCP support, and odds are there will be some coupon that knocks at least $100 off the price (hopefully).

Either way, you can't deny that monitor is friggin sweet.

if that new Dell 30" is anything like their 20 and 24, then it will be sweet. probably cost a lot less then the Apple too.

But it'll never be as good as the Apple as Apple actually puts monitors through some serious quality control so you get a perfect monitor all the time. It's well worth it.

comparing the two, the only thing that i would give the Apple over the Dell is the Bezel. other then that, the panel they both use is the same one from LG.

i'm not about to pay $300+ more just for that Apple finish.

teh apple does have higher quality set in mind. note the bleeding of the black lights and such too. same basic panels, but apple does have better quality control, hence the higher price.

to each his own. my 2005fpw doesn't have a dead pixel, nor does it bleed black light. plus i got it for $394.

I do agree Apple makes some serious quality hardware, but at the price against the Dell LCDs, you pretty much have to have a ton of money to choose over a Dell. If there was no Dell coupons it might be different, but yeah I "risked" a 2005FPW that doesn't have one dead pixel and the backlight bleeding, is well, nonexistant. I have pics on pics.bbzzdd.com under my username.
