If you don't know what to use it for, then it's a bad deal. That machine will use a lot of power and generate a lot of heat. Not ideal for a home solution, and you do a dual socket 771 for not that much money, and get more performance more efficiently--if you need a server.

The word server is like the word vehicle.

There is No way to give advice when One asks about a Vehicle without stating type and intended usage.

Ok, sorry I guess I was a little generic with the post.

I intend to host my Home based business website, SQL database, and use it to make images of computers partitions I purchase in lots to do mass installation on up to 5 machines at once.

Also it will store and be used as my quickbooks server.

(takes a breath) I hope!!!

For website it is a waste.

For the other tasks, if the size of the Drives is suitable, it might be a good deal.

You could not build a computer that cheap to do that job so i would say yes if it has the right amount of storage for it.

Sounds like a half-way decent deal to me. Yeah, you could get something more modern for a little bit more... but not easily - that is, assuming ECC RAM, etc. The fast SCSI drives, while small, are a nice perk.

If power draw and noise isn't a concern, for $125 I'd grab it.

Not too bad, I'd buy it. Those Xeons are hyperthreaded too, so you'll have to physical cores and two virtual cores. Great for a home media server or game server for certain games. Where can I pick it up?

I got the server off of EBay from a wholesaler that I deal with when I purchase large lots of desktops.
