If you don't know what to use it for, then it's a bad deal. That machine will use a lot of power and generate a lot of heat. Not ideal for a home solution, and you do a dual socket 771 for not that much money, and get more performance more efficiently--if you need a server.
Ok, sorry I guess I was a little generic with the post.
I intend to host my Home based business website, SQL database, and use it to make images of computers partitions I purchase in lots to do mass installation on up to 5 machines at once.
Also it will store and be used as my quickbooks server.
Sounds like a half-way decent deal to me. Yeah, you could get something more modern for a little bit more... but not easily - that is, assuming ECC RAM, etc. The fast SCSI drives, while small, are a nice perk.
If power draw and noise isn't a concern, for $125 I'd grab it.
Not too bad, I'd buy it. Those Xeons are hyperthreaded too, so you'll have to physical cores and two virtual cores. Great for a home media server or game server for certain games. Where can I pick it up?
