I have got a 4 gig hd, 3-8x cd drives(all free)and a cable. They are scsi-2. Are they worth setting up and using?

oooppss...they only thing i don't have is the scsi card. I was thinking if I did it I would just setup a scsi box beside my system. The cable appears to be long enough to do this.

It's probably not worth the investment of a SCSI card unless you want to put more money into the SCSI in the future.. and SCSI-2 HDs might not be fast enough to compete with IDEs nowadays.

Paying $50-$100 for a SCSI-2 card would not really be worth the investment to use a 4GB old and slow HD and an 8X old and slow CD-Rom. Just cause it's SCSI doesn't make it fast. A brand new 20GB IBM 75GXP will not only hold more but also blow away the old SCSI drive in benchmarks.

Thanks for the info. I know that it was slower, just didn't know it would be that much.

So what do I do with them now?
