Is this rude?

The entire situation and everyone involved is dumb. If you were making the call and not involved in the game then you should have gone somewhere else instead of talking over his game. Your brother is dumb for not just asking you to talk in another room. Your entire family, the house you live in and your laptop are all dumb.

hahaha

If a sailboat and a large freight ship are crossing paths, the freight ship has the right of way and the sailboat is obliged to change course to avoid collision.

A boat under power must always yield to a sailboat.

But I wouldn't play chicken with a freighter.

Good luck getting a freighter to yield.

Anyway - its rude but you were rude first. However, I would not recommend wasting anymore time on it. I only am becuase I am at work and, sadly, have nothing better to do.

It is a question of mobility. The ship with greater mobility must yield to the one with less mobility. Therefore, a sailboat must yield to a freighter while any other powerboat must yield to the sailboat.

It is a similar situation with a telephone and a television.

How old are you?

I am 24.

Your parents need to kick both of your whiney asses out of their house.

QFT

21 and 24, yet neither of you have developed a sense of decency.

I thought this was going to be i'm 13 he's 15.

Get your own apartment, then you can talk on the phone naked while making a ham sandwich if you please.

rude? perhaps. but he was immature in handling it. he should have just told you to leave, though you should have on your own volition. if he was watching TV i'd say it's rude, but just playing video games, what's wrong with a little extra environmental noise? does it affect him?

Brothers are supposed to behave in a civil, polite manner around one another? Follow etiquette and proper protocol? 😕

As the older brother, you reserve the right to yell, "Turn the volume down you PoS!"
If he doesn't listen, you reserve the right to kick his ass.

1st question) Mobility. Most phone calls can simply be made on another phone or in another room. Most games cannot be moved without a major hassle. Thus, if at all possible, the phone call should have been in a different room. You were rude, if that was the case.

2nd question) Importance. Assuming the phone can only be used in the living room, you need to see which was more important. Important phone calls takes presidence over any game. Games take presidence over a phone call that only involves sweet nothings with your significant other (those shouldn't be done with brother in the room).

Follow that two step proceedure and you'll never have this problem again.

Your brother may have his own problems. But that one in the quote is your problem. Deal with it.

Your brother is an ass. If a phone goes off, TV volume goes down.. unlelss something major is on TV in which case you would get your ass off the couch and talk elsewhere.

I thought i read that his parents are dead, got a brick thrown at them or something.

If i still lived with my folks at 24, id throw a brick at myself.

game is less mobile then your cell phone. You were more in the wrong, he was being a jerk about it.

If you were talking on landline and only have 1 phone in the house, then he was a dick, and you were not wrong obviously.
