i dont care what people say NV rule the opengl roost,

i have an ageing papyrus game, which i dug out a week ago......NASCAR racing 4, i still like it and think its better to play than 2003, i have always run it in opengl mode, and a gf4 mx and gf3 ti have never had problems.........i have a ati 9500pro now which beats fair and square the 2 cards jus mentioned.....but nascar racing 4 plays not very good at all

i tried the direct 3d renderer and while faster it looks like some one got busy with the blur brush in photo shop. opengl looks alot sharper tho there are times when things jus decide to get pixelated badly, this game recomended 650mhz p3 and a 32mb graphics......my current system a p4 2.4 and 128 radeon 9500pro plus 768 RDRAM, i still go into the twenties! with everything turned on high, no AA or AF at 1024x768

its an old game, and a not too taxing res......why am i having poor performance, and crap IQ in this game i should be able to play max settings (all 43 cars drawn infront and behind possibly) and its jus not happening..its actually putting me off gettin nascar 2003 because if this runs mediocre then the new one is gonna come down on my rig like a ton of bricks

Have you changed detail setting in the drivers control panel?
Go to 3D setting and D3D and make sure mipmap detail slider is all the way to the right (high) and so is texture preference.
This may help, don't know though.
I had graphical issues with NFS:U until I set these options to high.
