it's a Geil Value 512MB*2 PC3200 400MHz. I have no idea what chip is it using...

i was wondering if this would be a good start for my overclocking journey?
does anybody have any experience with this RAM? How far does it overclock?

I'm building a new one and it's probabbly going to be like this

AMD 64 3000+
MSI Neo2 Platnium
(that ram or if i have extra cash,a Patriot. Higly unlikely)
Nvidia GF6600 128MB AGP
Maxtor 120GB 7200RPM 8MB
Antec 430 Watts TruePower PSU.

You can always use a divider. You won't see the same performance if you were using a synchronous divider, though. But it won't be noticeable, anyways.

i've once did a little research about this memory, it's ok if not for overclocking, but if you overclock, i remember saw someone only got to 220Mhz, using neo2 s939, not sure what the voltage or the cl setting was. I've also read a review site that said it runs at 260mhz, but it's on intel platform, which might not too picky about memory, also forget the timing, but for it's price i'm very sure it's a very loose timing.

Either save cash and use a divider if overclocking.

Or spend the extra for ram that will go 1:1 to high speeds like TCCD memory if you are.
