Is this PSU ok?

Hi,

I'm using a Apex ATX 500W power supply (rated 20A on +12V rail). Will this handle a 9600gt?

No...an Apex PSU isn't ok to power a dog turd.

Deer, Allied, Supercase, L&C Technology, Solytech all of them are made by the same people who make the Apex and along with Leadman/Powmax they make up the "Axis of Suckage"

I'll be a bit nicer and not insult the lineage of that poor PSU. 😉

I think Nvidia recommends around 26-28A of +12v power for a 9600 GT, so 20A is not enough (measured for whole system).

But at least it doesn't suffer from inherent 3.3V and 5V rail weakness to cross-regulation failure...

I agree with the other two though, even if there were enough amps on the 12V rail, I probably wouldn't trust that PSU.

That much? I thought the recommendation for the 8800GT was 24A.

At any rate, I agree with everyone else.
