hey fellas, wondering if the following power supply will be sufficient for my Athlon64 3000+ venice, 6800 vanilla PCIe card, 1.5gb ram, 2 HD's and 1 dvd RW. its a PC Power & Cooling 400W atx power supply with Outputs:
+5V/40A;
+12V/15A;
-5V/1A;
-12V/2A;
+3.3V/32A;
+5VSB/2A.
+5V & +3.3V outputs = 300W max.

Total continuous power = 400W max. Total peak power = 450W max.

its a quality psu, just not sure if its gonna give me enough juice. any help would be appreciated. thanks!

That PSU is an old design that is heavliy weighted to the +5 side. Recently designed PSUs for systems like yours should have the power weighted more heavily to the +12 side. However, if you already have the PCP&C PSU, it will probably be adequate. But if you haven't already bought and you are looking to buy something for your system, I would be looking for a more modern design with at least 22A or more on the +12. That would be better suited to a modern system. Older designs also may lack the array of connectors required for a modern system and buying the adapters separately can cost a considerable sum.
. IAC, a total of 400W should be plenty for most systems as long as the power is distributed properly across the rails. There is a sticky thread here on 24-pin and split +12 rail PSUs that should be informative for you.
