Is this powerful enough for a CS server.

I have a AMD K6-233 lying around with
96 mb RAM
7 GB HD
Voodoo 3 PCI
and would be on a ADSL connection.
Would this perform as a good dedicated CS server?

How many people could play at a server running this setup?

Finally, What OS should I use? and why?

Thanks

Win2k would eat that machine alive! I suggest either Linux or Win98, and yes that is enough for a good 16 player server. You just need to make sure the ADSL connection has enough upstream bandwidth and you're set 🙂

With 96MB ram, the most people you'd probably want is 8-16, and with DSL, that may be pushing it a bit.

Edit: Saw your OS question, and I'd say that if you know how to work in the Linux command line(X is a resource hog IMO), it is the best choice.

use Linux. Not any version of Windows. Linux uses the least resources, leaving more for the CS server.
