I have a 17" monitor that works great other than one of the pins is messed up a bit and the cable going into the plug needs to be bent down for the color to come in right. If the cable aint bent down most of the desktop looks yellowish colored. I was wondering is it possible to take the cable out of the back of a old 15" and remove the one on the 17" and solder the 15" monitor cable in there? Would/could this work? Of course I know to match the wires up.

I am decent with a soldering iron but no pro.

If I personally was going to rip open my monitor and do some soldering, I'd mount a female HD15 (like the one on video cards) connector into the back of the case. That way, next time the cable goes bad...BAM! standard male/male HD15 cable replacement ;)

Otherwise...I'd just replace the connector at the end of the cable.

Can the connector at the end of the cable be taken off? On both monitors the cable is built into the monitors. Whats the best way to fix this?
