skype maybe.


Microsoft Live Communications Server + Office Communicator can do this but it's enterprise software and requires a PSTN gateway.

If you have Vonage they have a software tool that allows you to do this as well.

Vonage rocks btw if you don't have it I can get us both a free month if you sign up :)

hmm... your the first person I've heard of having to put the deposit down...

Free? I doubt it... VOIPStunt or VOIPBuster is going to be the closest you are going to get man.

Only *free* method is to have your friend add another line on his/her account and give you the 2nd phone. Network-to-network calls on most carriers are free.

Best cheapskate answer is for your friend to get a computer, you both load Skype, and you both chat away for free.
