Is this possible?

I am moving into my college appartment next week. We bought the house from an old married family that lived since like the 1930's. In the basement there is this really old huge freezer that still works. My question is......Is it possible to make the freezer into just a refrigerator? There are no settings or nobs because it is so old..it just gets to freezing temps when you plug it in. Natrually i dont have enough stuff to freeze to varify plugging it in all day. But I WILL have more then enough reason to have a refridgerator there.

Any thoughts?

Probably not. You could buy a regular refigerator and use it.

Actually, you can replace the thermostat in most newer freezers which converts them to cool to only the temperature of a fridge. So it is very possible, just need to tell the freezer to kick the compressor off when it reaches 35-44 degrees instead of 20-25 degrees.

Probably better off buying a new one, better energy cost and all that.... You can keep the huge thing for storage or in case you ever need to hold on to a dead body...

I'm pretty sure you can do all sorts of stuff with a freezer like house a lot of servers or alcohol..or corpses.
