My friend says that during a lightning storm his power went out and now his sound card in his computer doenst work--- is this possible? wouldnt the wholke computer get fried not just the sound card? sounds like a coincidence to me but i wanted to c ur opinions

Very possible. My 56k modem got fried during a storm. Seems like anything located on the PCI bus gets targeted first.

Yep, lightning can be very strange. Just worked on a computer yesterday where it took out the phone part of a surge protector and saved the computer.

About 2 years ago, i lent my brand new geforce 2 mx 400 to my sister's boyfriend (now husband) - he was supposed to do some trouble shooting with it, and give it back some days later.

however, THAT SAME FUCK**G NIGHT, lighning struck his home, and the geforce was fried. Since i was only 15 and had paid it all by myself (had been saving for 9 months!), i nearly broke his neck .

Anyways, it was all right, because 2 months later the insurance company woke up, and gave him the geforce back. I had been without a computer for two months!

Just to illustrate how frustrating lightning can be.
