Is this possible with the xbox?

Since the xbox has a hard drive would it be possible for Microsoft to release a disc or download that would allow it to play vcds? Or is that a hardware issue that can't be overcome by a software upgrade?

probably, im sure its just got a diff way of formatting on it, you could probably boot windows on it

What I mean is if you can use the xboxs dvd player to play VCD's. I know some dvd players play then and some won't and currently the xbox doesn't.

It's not possible yet, but it will be soon. I would assume it will be a boot cd that you put in there and switch out with the VCD you want to play. Give it some time, the Xbox is still pretty new

I'm pretty sure the DC has something like this.

Yes it is possible but probable? I dont see MS lisencing any VCD technology against the MPAA.
