Is this possible? (RE bridging in WinXP)

Hi.

I am going to a LAN party tomorrow, and we have about 10 people going with 2 8-port 10mbps hubs. I was thinking about having two people (myself and a friend, both with Windows XP Pro) install 2 NICs in our computers, and use a 100mbps cross over cable between us (his hard drive died tonight and he will need to copy some stuff back off me tomorrow).

Does the Bridging option in WinXP allow us to do this, and how would we set it up?

Thanks

Alex

Actually I believe you would just set it up as a regular LAN minus the hub since you are using a cross-over cable.

What are you trying to accomplish with the 2 nics & crossover cable? Connect the hubs, or establish an Internet connection for the network?

The 2 hubs shouldn't need anything fancy, and should have an uplink in order to connect to each other so the 2 nics in the PCs wouldn't be necessary.

Yeah, we do want to connect the 2 hubs together, but want to be able to transfer about 10gigs of data between us two as well, without using all the bandwidth on the hubs. Also to minimise the collision domains between them all, so we act like a router or switch.
