Is there a router that strictly uses USB only and no ethernet?

The closest thing I know of for sure is the Gigafast HomePlug line of products. The first and most compatible adaptors are all USB-only connectors, and the actual network transmission is done over your electrical outlets. Beyond that I don't know of anything like what you're talking about.

I do not know why you want it?

There is one with USB on the WAN side. It is called Vigor 2200. Google it, you will find info.

They do not sell them in the US since it is cheaper to buy External Ethernet Modem and inexpensive regular Router.

Making USB master without a computer is expensive so there is no commercial sense in selling them on the LAN side.

On the LAN side you can use regular Router with Ethernet to USB converter.

Yea I dont think theres any market for creating networking hardware that work via USB cables and the Serial protocal. Etherent is used and works because it is so expandable, and there is no language barriers between operating systems and computer types. With USB, the router would need every connected computer to run a driver, and that could be a problem for non windows based operating systems. Thats a bad thing to lay out on a router. And what about adding switches and access points? you cant do that via usb.

So networking via USB does indeed suck.

Step two: Buy four USB to Ethernet NIC's
Step three: Pretend that the router is a four port usb router
