Hey, we've had this old Erhard New York piano in our house for a long time, we are now redoing our living room and we want to get rid of it, the problem is, the only way it can get out of the house is through the window. We're going to have to disassemble it, are these piano's even worth anything? Is it even possible to dissassemble a piano w/o professional help?

Are you living in LA? If so, I'd love to take it off your hand 🙂

Btw, I never heard of that brand of piano..so I guess it shouldn't worth too much.

Nope, sorry. I live in boston. BTW it needs to be tuned, so it's not worth it(I thought maybe it would if it were well known, but I guess not, so it's trash). Anyone ever try taking apart a piano?

Wow, someone who doesn't know if a piano is worth something is basing its worth on the brand name? To think, people did that with the Stradivarius' too at one point.

No, it's not "trash." To destroy any piano is, in my opinion, a horrible thing. Give it away to a school or something if you don't want it.

How the hell did it get INTO the house, then?

Like 50 somewhat years ago, before we bought the house, they had a crane or something lift it through the window. However back then they didn't have so many telephone wires and electrical wires on the sidewalk

If its not worth anything, how about you smash it up?

I would like too, but I really don't want to make that much of a mess...maybe if I get frustrated after a week or so I will.
are you sure it's Erhard, and not Erard?
I just checked, it is Erhard..

I would if I could, but if it's really not a good piano, it costs too much to move it out + tune it so in the end it would cost too much for a crappy piano.
