Is this perhaps the best American car ever made?

Previous gen BMW 5/7/x5 - 4.4L v8: 290hp
Current Mercedes x500s - 5.0L v8 - 302hp

So in terms of the (rather disgusting) HP/L comparison, the Mustang hangs on with its European "counterparts" at a fraction of the price.

A 7 Series BMW is the european counterpart to the Mustang? You're joking, right?

As for the GT, there's one in the Ford showroom a quarter of a mile from my house so I've checked it out a few times. I'd love to drive one and I certainly wouldn't turn it down if given to me, but it definitely is demonstrative of Ford engineering. And I don't mean that in a good way. Even a look at the keyholes in the doors shows the lack of attention to detail. Take a good close look at one if you get a chance.

Yeah but its still an american car, sortof... isn't it?

Bad example I know lol, still a cool car though.

"best" and "Ford" should never be used together.

Sort of like torque and Honda? 😀

I don't know much about Hondas so I'll simply agree. 😉

After making my post earlier, I tried to think of a brand of car I would dislike owning more than Ford. The only one I can think of is Kia. And that's a maybe. Every person, every single one, that I have known to own a Ford has ended up hating it. Ford sucks.

My Fords:
1978 Ford F-150. 285,000 miles. Starts every time. you could drive it every day if you wanted.
1993 Ford Aerostar. 290,000 miles. the only non-regular work it needed was a coil pack. it is still going strong.
1999 Ford Escort. It had to have the gas cap replaced. other than that, it has been perfect.
2005 Ford Focus. came from the factory w/ a coolant leak. it was a Q.C. problem that was promptly fixed. have not had trouble since.

I haven't had a major problem with a Ford yet. Keep on hating, buddy.

Perhaps the GT40 was the best race Car america ever built. With the exception of the Cobra perhaps. The GT however, is simply a recreation of a 30 year old car. It can barely edge out a Corvette Z06 in the quarter mile by 1 tenth of a second, and also gets spanked by the vette in the corners, in stopping distances - and thus, on the track. Pretty sad when the GT is mid engine. The vette also costs half the price, and won't give you thousands of electrical problems.

where did you read this?

Its in last month's (or actually probably December since I get issues a month early) Motortrend. They compared the Viper, Z06 and GT
