There is no way in hell that GTX 760 is worth $300 even if they are Canadian dollars. To answer your question, it will play the games you listed fine.

1. You can buy win 8 a lot cheaper online (check reddit) then redirect the money towards a K CPU and a good cooler. Buy a small SSD instead, you can redirect the ~$30 savings into your GPU budget that brings you up to the GTX 970. Worry about mass storage later, trust me, you want windows on SSD.

A K chip with a good cooler and a GTX 970 over the 760 would make a huge difference in how your PC would perform, SSD is icing on the cake.

also, a 970 might be overkill, if you can find a 770 for a good price, go for that.

I don't think a single GPU can be overkill. I am assuming the OP plans to game @1080p, 970 allows to go all out with settings and is a little more future proof than 770. That to me would be worthy the $100 more than endure compromises with 770.

the same shop sells the same GPu for $100CA less on this page

also, W8 is kinda horrible. it works, but W7 will just give you a more pleasant desktop experience.

I wouldn't say Windows 8 is horrible. If you're buying a PC for gaming, Windows 8 has DirectX 11.2, which makes it automatically the better choice over Windows 7 which is limited to DirectX 11.0.

There are 3 obvious issues:
1. No case. That's just a side panel.
2. No SSD (as suggested, get an HDD later; you'll understand after you install and update software on the SSD, OK?)
3. Poor GPU value
4. Poor RAM value

So, here's my take:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

Nice cheap case, an SSD (HDD later, as already suggested), slightly faster CPU, and a nice little motherboard (you could get the full-size H97 Pro4 or Anniversary, instead). GTX 970 may be a bit much, but don't pay more than $220 for a GTX 760, or $300 for a GTX 770.

If you want to OC, you'll need the K CPU, a Z97 motherboard, and a decent cooler. All in all, $50-150 more expensive, depending on what you get.

I'd just spend the extra and get the K model+Z97. It's literally under $50 extra and you get far more bang for your buck.

Don't think the GTX 970 is worth it either when we know full well the price is dropping a TON shortly when the GTX 980 Ti releases. Your GPU prices are messed up like no other over in CA, I'd look into used if possible.

there's no games using dx11.2 afaik, and even then the changes over dx11 are just internal, nothing the OP would actually see.
unless idk, he cares about having his shaders precompiled.
also, talking of w8 gaming
http://www.eightforums.com/general-support/34689-windows-8-8-1-mouse-lag-microsoft-adressing.html
i tried w8, launched my fav game, was horrified, launched all my other games, and promptly formatted and installed W7.

an OS that doesnt have a raw input is not something i'd call a "gamer" OS.

@ Rick

the 970 isa great card, but so is the 770. mine (at 1080) doesn't make a sound, runs cool, and you could buy one for £130 on eBay. six months old card, mind you. should the OP get the 970 and throw it away in six months? for future proofing?

770 won't get close to 60FPS in a lot of 2014 games settings turned up and its a 2GB card. 7 is obsolete. Its security updates only next month and apart form 11.2, I seriously doubt that DX 12 will come to 7. Mouse control is old news, its been patched.
