Is this Overclocking?

I own an Asus A7N8X and a XP2400+. I plan to lower the multiplier of the XP2400+ to 10 (its unlocked on the board) and set the FSB to 400 for a final CPU clock rate of 2GHz. Since this is the exact same speed it is supposed to run at on a 266FSB would this even offer any more than noraml chances of damaging the CPU? I have DDR 400 and plan to run it in sync with the FSB, so that basically as I understand it nothing will be overclcocked. Is this right or am I confused?😱

You mean you are trying to reach 200MHz FSB? Fat chance you'll make it. Even though the CPU and RAM are not overclocked, the clock generator will not be able to handle it. PCI and AGP speeds will also be out of range, even with higher PCI dividers.

actually he might be able to make it
nforce 2 boards have a selectable fsb of a very high number

pci and agp bus is of no worries, as they can be locked

renditionkid: although it doesnt seem like overclocking, it in fact, is. technically, if you raise the cpu frequency over its factory defaults, no matter what you do to the mult, the cpu is being overclocked

if you can get it up to 200fsb, that would be awesome
there may be some damage done to the cpu, however it wouldnt affect the lifespan by much as long as you keep the temps under control (i am not aware of any "sudden death syndrome" that the p4's encounter with voltages over 1.7v)

fat chance?? LOL. Don't think you've been around here much. Do a search and quite a few fellas have actually gotten 200Mhz FSB and the PCI and AGP clock speed is lock. Chances of him getting 200FSB are quite high.

Actually, after just reaching 2.4GHz, I'm back down to my "stable" settings of 200x11.5@2300MHz on an EPoX 8RDA+. Don't underestimate the power of the nForce2. 😀
