Ever since installing my EVGA SC card, every now and then system just go bonkers, it will just hard lock. I thought i solved the problem (lose PCI-E power plug) but still going on, but less so than before.

3.3v shows 3.280v in BIOS on Antec NEO HE 550wat PS. Does that look ok?
I have a "old" Asus P5Q-E motherboard, maybe it has problems with the card?

I thought maybe it was a driver issue at first, but tried 3 different ones and still get it. But I also get it in windows safe mode. I could go all day no problems, then one day it will keep hard locking over and over. Very odd.

So does PS look fine for it? I'm only running 1 sata drive and sata bluray drive. Nothing exotic in system.

I'm pretty much lost on what could be the problem. I don't want to fork over hundreds of dollars for something that might be simple.

That PS should be plenty enough.

I would try to update BIOS. Also check in bios that the PCI-E frequency is at default 100 MHZ.

I googled GTX 460 problems, and tons of people have same issue as me it seems.

This shows up a lot to, which never saw before.

I doubt this will solve your problem, but you should run disk error checking.

If you're overclocked on any components then set them back to default.

Have you tried reseating the card in the PCI slot?

Yah i tried like 4-5 diffrent version of the drivers. None seem better than the other.

The slot has a lock on it that clicks when its all the way in. Nothing is overclocked, accept the card itself from factory.

I'll run disk error checking to be safe.

I might have to just wait for a newest nvidia driver..

Just a suggestion. If you haven't already used it. Driversweeper or Drivercleaner?

Yah I did the drive sweeper thing already. Airflow is fine, i been running with case apart, should be a non-issue even with on because this card.

I played for 2 hours Starcraft 2 just now, and no problems. Then exited and started BC2 and locked up before video started. :/

Very weird. I'm going to try it in brothers computer tomorrow to see if he has any problems.

For some reason I think a new motherboard might be in order if that does not work. Which is something i been needing to do anyways because I want sli setup.

So i removed card and put in another computer, running Heaven benchmark in a loop for last hour in other computer *dual core 1.83ghz, 4gigs ddr2 ram, win 7 64* and its running fine without a problem at all.

It uses the Asrock G43Twins-fullHD, it uses the G43 +ICH10 Chipset (ddr2 or ddr3 ram one). Runs great with 460. The computer also only has a 430watt antec PS from long time ago. vs the 550watt in this one.

I put my "old" GTX 260 Core 216 back in this computer and it runs great as well. SO the only conclusion we can get from this is. WTF. lol

Someone in another thread said he fixed his problem by disabling Nvidia HD audio driver. Nvidia said on forum they are going to release new driver soon that will enhance performance In BF2 and also allow you do install HD audio separate.

That might have some merit, since i do use USB audio on this computer, the HD audio driver might be conflicting with it. The other computer with GTX 460 in it currently has no sound devices..

Well said by all. Seems like a tangled flaky driver. Boot to safe mode then uninstall from cpanel all nvidia you see, then run driver sweeper like the lad said and click nvidia and clean. then reboot and install latest WHQL drivers. Hope that does it....

You know i was looking at cards at newegg and noticed they have a "what Power Supply do i need?" section. I put in my info and said i need 560watt PS for my system?

I use a 550watt.

As for EVGA support, yes its awesome. However i hate having to wait a long time to get a replacement. If you wanted it really fast you could spend a fortune if you did every thing fastest from them though. I wish they would do a cross shipment on faulty cards within 90days, instead of you sending card in first. That way they can just charge you for card if you don't send back in your card within a time frame. oh well. I can use my "old" GTX 260 core 216 fine for the time being :D
