Is this ok for a weird configuration of a dual power supply setup

I have a dual celeron 550mhz computer that acts as a server/router and whatever I want with it and I'v been throwing all my old hd's in that system and soon I'm going to put even more in it.

What I was wondering since I might run into a power problem that I could connect a few of the hd's to and old AT power supply that I would turn on before I turn on the main computer. Would it work?

From what I know, sure it would work.
I know this guy who had his PS hooked up 24/7 to his deathstar 75GXP raid aray, so it would never power off. Eerie.

it works i tried on my vapochill rig, make sure you power on the HDDs first is all, or the mobo wont pick them up on post.
