IS this official XP SP3?

It doesnt say RC1 or anything... I thought it would be big news if it was out.... unless i totally missed it.

That's a link to a document describing SP3. Yeah, you can expect some hoopla when the actual SP3 arrives

LOL it was a long night last night i see... I totally missed that... thats coz i was checking for some nvidia latest drivers and i saw this guy in a forum sayin he tested them with xp SP3 RC1... which i wasnt aware that was out already in the first place.... so I check for sp3 and i get to that MS website... and im like holly hell its out n it doesnt even say RC1 lol.... great way to start the day.... hey i only walk up 2 hours ago... yea 1:30pm

That site explains what it is all about - but the actual current RC1 download is available on Microsoft Technet if you are a subscriber.

I got it before Christmas - it works great. It is, however, RC1 and will be uninstalled when the final version comes out. It is a 336 MB download, and it results in the OS being XP Pro SP3, version 3244 build 2600.

Thanks for the tip, Prophet. It is a slightly newer version than the one I have been running. I decided to download it and see what would happen with an overlay install.

It was a slow download compared to the TechNet site, but eventually it all got saved. I then ran it on top of the existing SP3. Not a problem! Did a check afterwards with Belarc advisor, and sure enough, version 3244 was replaced with 3264. It continues to work very well - zero problems noted with any functionsx or software.
