it is a slang term, i guess it isn't widely known by young people or maybe it is regional

it is on this page

http://www.ocf.berkeley.edu/~wrader/slang/b.html

n 1. an imaginary place where all the residents are hicks, rednecks, or otherwise backwards. ("He's from Bumf***, Nebraska.") Submitted by Emily Marcroft, UC Berkeley, CA, USA, 13-01-1998. far

it on urban dictionary, but i can't link it with the censored word filter

Someplace hard to get to and generally undesirable; the boonies or toolies.
Any of the many extremely remote and inhospitable military outposts where U.S service men or women are assigned to serve.
i may have first heard it in the Navy

I would assume it extendes the "way out in the middle of nowhere" word of 'bumfvck' to 'way way way out in the middle of nowhere in Egypt' aka the desert.

If an Egyptian does not realise that there are desserts in his land or thinks that desserts are great places to have stuff then he is technically not smart enough to breath and his opinions are automatically null and void.

I don't think it's ever offended anybody. However, if it does, I'm sure the PC police will be out in force at some point to suppress it.

I've NEVER heard anyone say "butt" in the phrase. Always "bum". Anyway, technicalities.

I have always heard and used, "East Bum Fvck". That can't offend anyone.

I accidentally used that term when talking to my grandmother. I explained that it meant the middle of nowhere, and luckily she didn't ask what the letters stood for.
