Is this normal for Polaroid Cameras?

I have a polaroid close up camera (instant camera), when you take pictures the picture hits a black filmy thing. I believe it's the film shade, however in movies like Memento, you just see the picture come out. Whenever I pull out the film, it tends to have black undeveloped spots on the corner. Do you think it's that "film-shade" ? Is the picture supposed to have that? I think it should, when the picture comes out, it gets caught against the black film, then when the entire picture comes out, the film shade retracts, but then again... like what I said, in Memento, that camera didn't have a shade come out, or maybe because that camera doesn't have one? Help!

I used the same camera a few years ago. It did that too.

Depends on the camera. IIRC there are three or four different syles of Polaroid film that look largely the same but fit different cameras. Polaroid may have slimmed the line down a bit since the last time I looked for film for my old Polaroid Land Camera.

Yeah... it's normal. I destroyed...er disassembled a previously destroyed Polaroid camera once. That's normal.

Well, I know what type of film I have to use. The thing is, I haven't had any experience with Polaroid Cameras. I know them for having the developed film exit the bottom automatically. I am not aware of any so-called 'film-shade' that is supposed to cover the film. Is this a feature? It's a Closeup 600 series camera.
