Set up my system finally this weekend after a 2 month long wait.
Anyway, I installed everything fine in W2k besides the VIA drivers (which I'm not too sure what they're for...agp???) Did RC5 and Quake3 demo for a day and seems stable. My temp while idle is 42C and 46C load. So, whenever the computer is booted, it kinda hangs in the Award bios screen for like 5 seconds then continues on booting. Is this normal? Couldn't find any setting in the bios or in the manual that describes this issue.

Also, I'm using motherboard monitor and seems like my FOP32-1 fan is kicking at ~6800rpms. Is this accurate? I thought the FOP32 fans were rated at 4800rpms or something. The box that came with it also had a fan grill which I attached. The fan says it's from GlobalWin if I remember correctly.

Lastly, how do I disable the beep!!! I disabled all the legacy onboard sound but am still getting that beep from that lousy system speaker whenever W2K has a comment that pops up. Haven't put my SB Platinum in yet (as I'm still running Quake3 demo and RC5), which I hope will solve the problem, but need to get that beep fixed. Anyway to do it besides unplugging it from the mobo?

1. The pause in the boot process is very normal. Someone in another thread has reported speeding it up but he's not sure how he did it.

2. Where did you purchase your FOP-32? There is a FOP-32++ out there which comes with a Delta Fan (7000 RPM). If you have that you need to unplug it from your motherboard because it draws too much power for the motherboard riser and can toast it.

3. I haven't checked the beep thing.
