Is this normal for an i7?

Just got an i7 & i've downloaded CPUz in preparation for an overclock.
I was noticing when I had CPU-z open the voltage fluctuating between .928 & 1.248V.
I also noticed the core speed & multiplier fluctuating, but I thought nothing of that.
Is this normal?
BTW, the cpu is installed on a Gigabyte EX58-UD4P & 6GB Patriot ram.

Thanks.

It's Speed Step changing your processor speed and voltage depending on resource demand. It's perfectly normal.

Thanks...that's good to know.
I'm getting fairly consistent temps, but they seem a tad high for stock speeds, maybe? 39,39,40,38c...room ambient is 29c.

Curious to know, on average, how much warmer is a cpu than room ambient if cooled on air?

Depending on the cpu and cooler, a few degrees, like 3/4 with a highend cooler, to more then 15-20c above ambient with stock coolers.

I actually think 1,248v is a tad high, if you're not overclocking :) I never leave the vcore setting on auto. Mobo's always give it way to much.

I've not had it installed that long. I figured leave everything on auto until I get my OS installed. :)
Right now it looks like it's about 9-10c higher than room temp. Cooler is a Noctua NH-U12P. TIM is IC7.
