I have the laptop nic pluged into the HUB but the light on the hub dosent come on? The Nic card thats in my home PC makes the hub light come on.

I just want to know if the communicator light should come on when the cables are all connected. Or do I just need to do a fresh install on the laptop?

Could be the drivers, could be the card socket services. Does the laptop make a little happy sounding beep-beep noise when you put the card in (after it's booted)? If it does, you may want to try loading the newest drivers and of course check for any updates from the manufacturer of the laptop.

Check the cable as it may be bad also. Remove the devise in safe mode and reinstall also.

if you hear a boop-poop (oh boy i can hear the people go off on this one) then the card initialized ok, if not, install newest drivers. when you hear that sound (above) you can test it by doing a loopback test.
