Is this new little tracking device a good idea?

My daughter is always losing keys all over the house in couches, the laundry, etc. etc.
I'm thinking about getting her this new little tracking device as a little christmas present.

I don't have a smartphone, so do you think it would be a good idea (she does have one)?
