I've all but settled for this monitor. I love how it looks too. I like the fact that it's got a glossy screen too. (I'm not worried about reflections)

Acer G245H - Newegg

I found this one though also (Samsung B2430H - Newegg), and I wondered, other than the 20 dollar price difference on Newegg, would this Samsung be any better than the Acer in terms of picture quality alone?

The Acer's warranty is even three years too compared to the Sammy's one year.

Please, just need an answer to my question, no more recommendations.

*edit* crap, i'm tempted to get the sammy because amazon is selling it for only $209.99, a whole forty dollars difference.... even though i really like the acer more with its looks, glossy screen, and warranty and speakers, even though they're crappy speakers...

One of the things Ive noticed about the ACERs is the lack of options available for display control via menu. Suggest that you compare these monitors on the floor:
- Check menu controls/features
- Compare for text display, photos & movies
- Compare maximum brightness capability, uniformity, black levels, actual viewing angles, any weird or annoying aspects such as too bright power LED or flashing when on standby, location, use touch buttons (tactile response) versus physical buttons, menu layout, etc.

Just bring along yur own custom CD (or better USB thumb drive) with your favorites/samples.

Displays are so involved that it is very difficult to choose. Another issue is that you can easily get one out of the box that quality wise is not as good as average (typically with respect to dead/hot pixels, backlight bleed, uniformity).

LOL your funny. This is a cool funny thread. Honestly dude I wouldn't touch Acer gear anything monitor or the crappy Acer my friend got alto its a quad. Acer is a horrible company in my opinion. Just from experience. I wouldnt touch that Acer monitor or LG monitors especially. Get the Samsung. That is quality a bit more price but quality parts and quality TV, even tho they kinda look the same at times their not. Acer can have a bad black color that is off white. Samsungs black is black no white no need for LED. anyhow hope you learned something from this. Thank you all

Hey Isv your smart. latency of RAM will always matter more right now. There is no app that really pushes 1600 with high latency.. for example my latency is 55ns its like the 3rd one on everest latest edition. Why because the higher you go the more RAM MB the application can transfer at once,, Adobe Video or Audio . you want RAM to be fast because youll never really use 1600MB of ram at once . NO need.

To be frank, most monitors will use identical panels. That's probably why it's so hard to get information. What changes however is the power management and regulation within the LCD unit. I'd much rather pay a bit extra and know Samsung will probably be using better components when completing a unit.

I've had 2 Acer LCDs and both worked fine from the day I purchased them to the day I moved up to a larger display. If you've seen it & like it then you will probably be happy with it.
