You have listed quite a variety of things this monitor will be used for. For general usage and gaming I suspect it will be find, but if you are doing a lot of photo editing I would recommend looking into a (more expensive) IPS panel. Personally I prefer ASUS LED monitors for gaming as they are a good value for the money.

I don't know about that monitor in particular, but gaming is better on a faster response screen with TN panel, photoshop is better on an IPS screen with more accurate colors and watching films is probably best on a screen that has really good black levels which a particular panel may or may not have.

No, going LED is most definitely not always better. A cheap LED setup is going to use top and bottom LEDs shining through a diffuser, which can give a very uneven backlight. Cheap LED setups can also have severe color temperature issues.

I agree with dpodblood and Zap. If Photoshop and movies are more important, go with an IPS like the Dell U2312HM. If gaming is more important, get a 120Hz display like this ASUS.

going LED is always better. it gives off more sharpness and overall better quality in whatever that you watch through the monitor.

if youre going to get a monitor, definitely go LED.

Don't belive that.. LED monitors have for a long period of time been the bottom of the pack, nothing yet makes LED better than CCFL other than less power consumption, and thinner design, however image quality might be negatively effected by the backlightning
