Is this monitor any good? + a couple questions

I was looking for monitors at a shop today and I found this one. It seems good but I'm not the greatest expert on monitors. I'm wondering:

Will I lose anything in image quality by having only a 1000:1 contrast ratio? I've seen monitors with 8,000 and 10,000 side by side and couldn't see that much a difference between both.

The monitor I was looking at had this slight ghosting issue. It was enough to make letters slighty blurry thus making image not as sharp as a normal monitor has. I'm wonering if this is an issue with this model in particular, or could it be just from the monitor that was being shown at the stand, could it be because of the computer it was connected to, or anything else? I won't want this model if the problem occurs at my home... Is there any way to solve it?

Thanks in advance.

usually contrast ratios like 8,000 and 10,000 are overinflated numbers manufacturers use to make their models stand out, i dont think there is a standard way for them to measure this so they do what they want. i doubt anyone can tell the difference between a 1000:1 and a 10000:1. i own a samsung syncmaster and am pleased with it. between the 1680x1050 rez, 5ms response, and contrast ratio i think this should be a good one.

What about the ghosting I saw on the desktop? Could it be the cable, the PC itself? Given your feedback I suppose the ghosting just isn't from the monitor itself, it should display correctly...
