I'm looking on ordering a new computer online... and I'm a college student with EXTREMELY limited funds.

The mobo that comes with the system I want is a pcchips.com 817LMR DDR board... will this suffice?

I'm not going to be doing any OC'ing or anything ultra techy like that... basically I'm gonna get a 1.4 Athlon T-Bird and just be the envy of all the guys in the dorm when it comes to CounterStrike... so is this a decent board?

My proposed system:

pcchips.com 817LMR DDR mobo
1.4 gig AMD Athlon T-Bird 266 FSB
30 gig WD HD 7200 rpm
256 MB RAM
SBLive! Value
GeForce2 MX400

thanks... in advance... for any insight

The board is in fact based upon the Sis735, and is a good one, but you won't be the top OCer! The rest is more than decent, cos its the best now, the only tiny thing that hurts is the GeForce2Mx, if you can, for the same budget, go for a Kyro2. Be sure to have a good cpu fan, a PSU of at least 300W and a 17"screen.....

Can anybody give me any links to any comparisons between Kyro II 64 MB and the GeForce2 MX400? I'm just curious because it seems like Kyro popped out of nowhere and I always thought GeForce2MX was the king of value 3d cards...

Ain't got no link but be sure that kyro2 kick ass of any GeForce2Mx (and don't forget the price of kyro2!!!!). Main technology of the kyro2: Tile Rendering juste need less memory bandwith.............

forget the Kyro 2, if you want a cheap card get an OEM Radeon 32MB DDR from newegg.com for 70$.
