Is this Microsoft?s new tool they've added to the control panel, because I?m pretty sure it wasn?t there a few days ago!

Ok well HERE is the pic of the new addition to my control panel, ?Windows Media Connect?.

Im just curious as to what this is, mainly because i have just bought an Xbox 360, and im thinking that if i rig this up on the LAN i will be able to give certain shares to it. For instance music folders and picture folders etc??

Anyone shed any light on this?

Thats the . Looking at that page from Microsoft's Bible would suggest the Xbox 360 is good to go. Im gonna have to try this out.

Can i just clarify, this is a new feature set/Tool right, like really recent?

Also it mentions a download for v2, ill assume that i already have that version. Im thinking this appeared through an MS update maybe, because I didn?t download it?

WMC has been available for quite some time, not sure why it just showed up for you....

It's been around for quite a while - it would have been a Microsoft update.

I believe it is an optional update through MU or WU though. It should not come down through automatic updates.

Yeah, I stay fully patched, and I don't have it on my XP install.

Heheh a hacked Xbox can do all those functionalities (play photos, music, videos) and supports ALL formats too (hacked/unprotected etc alike).
