<< The thing is they are letting her do private Emailing... they are just reading them ALL before they get sent and before she receives them. I just don't think it is right, weater it is legel or not... I just don't think it is right.

You have to understand that there is about 20 employee's in her office and ALL there Emails are being read. They have the automated respose system to let you know about them being filtered when you send them to her and they think this is enough to get away with a blatent breach of privacy, legal or not... it is WRONG!

I kind of agree. I mean, its good they are letting you know what they are doing. But they shouldnt be doing it. But then again they have the right to, and I dont blame them. Just glad I dont have to deal with it yet.

<< I am not flaming you... don't get me wrong. This is a good debate, I like your input. Thanks for spending your time on this! >>

We are on the same side on this one, but unfortunately there isnt much we can do :p

I must say I don't think there really is a breach of privacy here. It is not HER email, it is THEIR email. If this was a private email account of hers that she happened to be using at work, I would agree with you. However, since it is an email they are providing to her for the purpose of doing her work, I don't see where she should have any sense of privacy with it.

I'm not saying you are doing anything wrong either, by the way, just arguing for the hell of it, I don't know anybody that doesn't use company resources for private purposes.....like sitting here posting on AT all night because I don't do anything most of the time I'm at work. :)

However, my point is, while I enjoy the fact that I get to use my company email and internet connection for fun while I am here, I don't think that I have any right to it and would not feel violated in any way were those policies to change. I'm being paid to be here to do a job and I think they have every right to know exactly what I am doing while they are paying me to do it.

I guess if I paid you $10/hr and gave you the use of my car to go run errands for me, I would think that I had every right to know what you were doing during the time I paid you for and where you were going with my car.

LOL... Seems we are all sitting at work and using work internet connections and Emailing accounts for private use... the only thing is... my boss knows and is on here somewhere too! I don't think he is a member but I know he reads some of the threads.

If I wasn't aloud to do this I would resign and my boss knows this, so he lets me! ;)

I guess you could say I have got him by the short and curly's...

Why not just use a private email and avoid the whole thing? Can she get on the internet from there? If so, just use a free web-based email instead

Just remember that everything passing over the network can be seen! Best bet would be to go to a website like safeweb.com, then to a web based email. That should help out a bit.
