I don't want to violate any rules of this forum, so if this thread is not ok, I apologize in advance.

I see that a number of people have stripped down Windows XP to the bare essentials. One version that is talked about a lot on the web is T**yXP. While I realize most of these are cracked, I was wondering if it was legal to install it with a valid WindowsXP and use it legally?
Anyone know or can point me in the right direction

nLite is what you want to stripe down your version of XP. Their website is nliteos.com. It is perfectly legal to stripe down your own copy of windows XP (just like it is perfectly legal for you to delete your systems.ini file) But be forwarned that problems may ensue.

By using nLite, you will be able to get a tinier tinyXP because you can only install the files that are specific to your OS.

Good luck.

I run my desktop off of two IRAM ram-drives, making my C: drive a mere 8GB.

Because of this, and my desire to run my OS off the IRAM array, I used nLite to reconfigure my WinXP installation so it was a mere 500MB footprint.

No it is not illegal if you are doing it with your own legally purchased/licensed OS. If it was illegal then so to would slipstreaming.
