but on my credit card billing statement, i noticed that vitaglo charged me an additional 5 bucks. so the total is 39.95.

are they allow to do this without notifying me first? i don't think this is part of the purchase agreement. I was trying to resolve this with them... all they reply with is a rude "THIS IS A SHIPPING CHARGE TO HAWAII!".

If this is wrong, i want to report this to somewhere that could get them into trouble just because they were being so rude to their customer, where could i report them to? :|

okay, i'll call my cc company.

but first, was what he did anyone violation the purchase agreement?

also, i noticed that vitaglo is a yahoo store... can i somehow dispute it on yahoo too?

can you give us the link to the site...I'm sure there's some small print that says extra shipping charges to Alaska and Hawaii

Actually, I found this:

# Domestic Orders:
We ship all Yahoo Shopping orders either: UPSS, or USPS Priority Mail. Shipping charges are FREE when your order is over $50 and shipping to a destination inside the Continental United States (orders under $50 will be charged $5 dollars for shipping and handling). International orders will be shipped at customers expense. Once you submit your order processing begins within 24 hours. Most orders will arrive at your address within 5-9 business (Monday - Friday) days, with the vast bulk of these orders arriving much quicker.

So yeah, looks like they overcharged you $5 for some unknown reason. Call them back, read their own policy to them, and demand your money back.

International Orders:
Yes we ship Globally! For ALL orders outside the Continental United States we use the Express Air shipping method. Please Note: ALL International Orders WILL incure a MINIMUM charge of $20 for shipping. This helps ensures the quality of our products upon arrival. The customer is responsible for all shipping charges and should be aware of any regulations, restrictions, or tariffs their countries impose on foreign orders. The shipping charge will be determined by the size and weight of your package ($20 minimum shipping charge on ALL International orders regardless of total sales amount). Please Note: We will NOT knowingly ship products to destinations where they are restricted (this includes but is not limited to: DHEA into France).

is what is on their other site

They do list continental US, just seemed they failed to mention what would be the case for outside. If nothing else, you can just refuse shipment, and have ur cc deal with em.

Bolded the relevant part.

what about the part that saids "International orders will be shipped at customers expense." does that mean they can charge you extra without letting you know first?

They don't say what any extra charge will be for the US outside the Continental so you do have a chance to dispute it with the CC.

You might send a follow up to the company pointing out their lack of info on shipping to Hawaii, and offering to let them fix it before the CC company and Yahoo get involved

1. their site sucks (Help page? FAQ page?)
2. they only mentioned their policy for Continental US and nothing about adding extra for non-contiguous US (+1 for you)
3. The part about International orders does not apply to this (unless Hawaii seceded from the Union)
4. Unless there's one more disclaimer about adding extra charges on the page where you actually hit "submit order" that i don't know about, you can easily win this one (with your cc company).

[oh, and this is more than just about $5.00 ]

you need to file a dispute with your credit card company over that $5, and be sure to save their website to your hd to document it, and retain all receipts and printouts displaying the price.

Bottom line, call you CC company, tell them you did not authorize that transaction for that amount, and make sure you keep a copy of their shipping policy so you can demonstrate that they did not disclose any such fee in advance.

The CC will give you the $$ back, and charge the merchant a chargeback fee on top of it. Teach the merchant to think about customer service a little in the future.
