Alright, cops park outside pizzahut. One cop pulls out a cellphone and makes an order for 1 large 1 topping pizza but asks for it to be delivered to a location that is 40 miles away from the pizzahut. On top of that, he says that he'll give them $50 extra if its delivered under 20 minutes. So pizza delivery boy pulls out of the parking lot doing 55 in a 25 zone, cops immediately arrest him and take his pizza. Is that legal?

They can legally arrest him for speeding, but they can't take the pizza (well, unless they pay).

What dumbass would actually attempt to do 40 miles in 10-15 minutes assuming the pizza takes 5-10 minutes to make? The driver deserves to be ticketed for being a dumbass.

Its not entrapment, so I would say yes, its legal. However, its not morally right.

They have a quota every month that they need to try and get.

There is no scene remotely like that in supertroopers :)

Although the shower scene was disturbing.

Wife did a ride along with a cop. They do not have a quota per say but they don't want someone writing 2 tickets a month when everyone else is writing 40. They were pulling people over for speeding in a 35mph zone but they were not bothering anybody who was doing under 55. Wife said he could have been writing tickets all night at even that speed.

Not in all cities. But most have a certain number of tickets that have to be written or they get yelled at.

it's foolish to think that not every cop has a quota to meet. it's illegal to have one, so that's why they wont admit it, but they have one.

Reno 911 rules. It's right on par with Super Troopers. I don't know about where you live, but our cops definitley have quotas. The end of the month is a bad time to be speeding :Q

Quota huh? Kind of reminds me of the old 1930s Soviet Union days when police had a quota of how many bad guys they needed to catch.

Yes, it IS entrapment. Covering 40 miles in 20 minutes is 120 mph before including cooking and loading time. A law enforcement officer specifically requestied, enticed and induced the delivery guy to commit an act that would require him to break the law. The offer of the $50 bonus is just the kicker. :|

The cops who did this should be fired. Better yet, they should also be forced to deliver pizzas for minimum wage and not allowed to keep the tips. Maybe that would give them some idea of what they were doing to honest, innocent people. :disgust:

The delivery guy may also be able to sue the cops and the department for civil damages for entrapment and/or abuse of process under color of authority.

meh i don't like reno 911 too much... super troopers was cool, because you had cops like rabbit and ram, but in reno 911 they're all half like farva so it's not as funny imo.
