Is this laptop a decent buy for 329 plus tax?

single core cpu is slow but it depends on what you are using for web surfing word processing email...watching movies are fine but not for heavy like hardcore games, video editing etc.
 
Acers are OK - but they are not Dell, HP, or Lenovo. They are cheap - but perfectly serviceable to some people.

329 is competing with netbooks - almost expendable. 🙂
 
I always assume Acers are better and I saw a lot of people flocking around new Acers netbook and laptop at the store today.
