I don't think this is racist at all. Just like making fun of the name Dumas isn't the same as making fun of french people. It just happens to be a fun name to make fun of :)

What's racist about it? He's not making fun of the Mexicans, just their names.

follow up question:

if it is racist (at least one person has voted such so far) , then how come the network (CBS? NBC? ABC? whatever) didn't get lit up with phone calls about the program? it is a fairly popular/widely watched show , i think

No option for Not funny, but racist?

I voted not funny, not racist. Just didn't find it funny. Maybe if I'd heard Peter Boyle deliver it....maybe ;)

i didn't hear about anything like that happening, i just saw the show

normally if a show gets called out for something, the news/media gets wind of it

99 times out of 100 anyone who gets offended by something that is on network tv that they perceive as "racist", it is the person who has the problem. What is their problem? They are either retarded or a hyper-sensitive F-tard.

In this case:

1. Mexicans are a nationality not a race.
2. The joke is a play on words on a common Mexican name
3. There is nothing that makes Mexicans (the apparent butt of the joke) to be lesser than the joke teller
4. your girlfriend doesn't know what the fsck she is talking about.

Its a joke from a show based on fictional characters. Its not really funny, but good for some show content.

No, this joke is not racist. The joke is just a play on words, not people. Since Jose is a hispanic name, it's only natural that you make the joke about someone who's hispanic. There's nothing there which degrades the hispanic race.

hehe, i am not going to actually post that i agree with you ( ;) ) after all, it was my wife that made the comment, regardless of her being right or wrong, i still have to live with her :D

i think she was mostly just mad at me for some other stuff and wanted to put a dig into me

One of the most racist jokes I have heard in a long time. CBS will be getting a letter from me and I plan to sue them as well.

But if you notice when the grandpa started his joke, "what did the mexican father..." the audience did gasp a little.

btw the grandfather played frankensteins monster in young frankenstein...I love that scene with the blind guy.

That is so racist and degrading to mexicans all over the world. How dare a show on primetime television use such demeaning words.

:p :D ;)
Hahahahaha, if you are offended by that joke, you're an idiot. Seriously, if you're that freakin sensitive, don't watch the show anymore/
