It says prime steakhouses broil their steaks between 800-1000f? Not true, Donovans it's 1,500. I've never heard of a prime steakhouse that cook s a steak at 1,000f. The rest of it seems pretty good, except I'd say at home without a broiler that's able to hit the needed temp (nobody has one) the best you can do is a good steak. Great's impossible at home.
And no I'm not being a steak snob, I make steaks at home and enjoy them, but I know nothing I do at home can match a world class steak house, there's no substitute for the temp they cook meat at.

Damn I want to go to Donovans now :(

I like to sear my steaks at around 800 F, then turn it down to around 400 F and cook it at least medium well.
Worcestershire Sauce & A-1 or Heinz 57 after.

I don't like grilling any more. I'll either throw it in the broiler for a 1-2 minute. or sear on the cast iron then finish in oven.

so damn tasty.

Love my new infrared grill. Gets way hotter than my old, traditional open flame propane.

I did carne asada on the grill tonight and it was fucking fantastic. I don't think carne asada would work well under the broiler.

I do like a good, broiled flank steak (london broil), though.

Done right it's great, a store I use to work at had a little Taqueria and they had broiled steak tacos that would knock your socks off. But then again it seems a good Mexican chef can cook anything and make it tasty :D

I agree, ever since I got one of these, https://secure.lodgemfg.com/storefront/product1_new.asp?menu=logic&idProduct=3943 I use my turkey-fryer burner and it's 185K BTU output to heat it up real high then sear the steaks (I also use a thin coating of canola oil), use whatever rub/marinade you like. I still use a charcoal grill sometimes (bone-in chicken breasts) but use the griddle for a lot of things, the burgers are superb, crispy edges=a LOT of flavor. BTW you can buy one at Target for around $40.
