Is this how a car seat goes in? *PIC*

I followed the instructions, but the only thing actually keeping this in place is that beige seatbelt, with the brass colored locking clasp. The car has no Latch system in the correct position, so that black belt on the car base is unused. The instructions seem to indicate that this is adequate. It would be if we had to stop suddenly or rammed a car in front of us, but if we were rear-ended the seat would fly forward, smashing the baby's head into the rear seat. Also, if hit from the left or right the seat would not stay in position very well either.

You need to move the brass lock to the side of the seat or the carrier won't fit. You don't have middle lap belt? Its a shoulder belt in the middle? Other than the brass lock it looks good, just make sure you tighten it down with all your weight being pressed down onto the car seat with one hand and yanking up on the seatbelt slack with the other. Our seat now has permanent indentations in the back cushion with how tight it was. It will still slide a TINY bit left or right when secured and it will also lif from the back towards the back of the car. Thats normal. It won't be as bad once the carrier and baby are in it. Also thats what the 5 point harness on the carrier is for, to stop the baby from flying out of it if you are hit from the back.

Take it to the police station if you have one near you. They're supposed to be trained to check/install them properly.

Kids should be tied tot he roof of cars, their bloody whining gets to me. But yah, I guess that looks peachy. 🙂

Yeah it's a shoulder one in the middle unfortunately...i can't move the brass to the side because there is no room (the buckle comes up to the edge of the base). The seat itself does fit in like this though...

I don't technically need the brass thing, since I can lock that seatbelt out using a built in child mechanism in the seatbelt system, but it seems that the physics involved would favor using this brass thing. I think I need to put more weight on the base though, because there are no indentations yet 🙂

The brass-colored bar should go against the plastic knuckle in the belt, or it may slowly slip out.
It looks okay, but you're the one tugging on it...
You can put a rolled towel or something under the base by the seatback if tightening the belt creates a steep angle.

/edit I use my body weight by kneeling or sitting on seats to tighten them down... I weigh a lot more than my kids 🙂
