Is this hard drive dying?

A friend took his hard drive to try out on another computer and it wouldn't read it for whatever reason. So he took it and connected it back to his old computer with the same result. Now it appears as unformatted.
Any idea on how to recover the data?
 
You can try fixing the mbr or the FAT system. You can try going to Hitachi Homepage to download aHDD utility which will analyze the hdd and fix the mbr and FAT tables without losing data.
