OK....the bad news is that I did that with a Dell by accident. I was changing the cabling on the inside and my cousin didn't notice - hard drive died quicker than a spider 2 mm from your shoe on the way down.
The good news is that whereas my hard drive is sometimes recognized - yours is always recognized.
If it's not then you will have to evaluate an RMA.
Try playing with it and doing what Harvey and Chuck say. If that doesnt work then move on to what AMD said.
If any of those tests recognize and are able to read and write to the hard drive then you'll have to play with your bios some more. If you can find absolutely NO WAY to have your drive work - RMA it.
Take note that some companies when filling out an RMA will ask for an error message or number from the program. I had one drive once that had a megabyte of bad sectors. Being the perfectionist that I am when it comes to data on my PC and stuff working how it should - I RMA'd and I simply put that the drive had bad sectors, which was true. They gave me a drive back. It wasn't my drive but it was remanufactured/refurbished :disgust: . So much for being a perfectionist right? Well I sent that drive back saying the same thing (I'm a bad bad boi) and they sent me a brand new drive. 😀 . This was a Seagate drive. I also had to RMA a Western Digital, but they sent me back a new drive the first time. Maxtors for me never give a problem.
I always say, when in doubt, RMA.
Good Luck with the drive though. Hopefully you won't need to.
