Is this hard drive dead?

Hi Guys,

my fiance's computer was dropped, started having issues botting for lack of OS. I was able to save all her important files and reinstall windows. BUT..it is still having some issues booting..
so I ran a diagnosis program from Western Digital (her HD brand) and it's saying "too many bad sectors".

Is it time to buy a new hard drive, or is there a solution?

Thanks so much for the feedback.

Sounds like it is going South to me... you could try a checkdisk to repair any bad sectors but I wouldn't chance it, especially if you already have the data off the drive and the fact that hard drives aren't too expensive.

If you already got the data off it, it's time for a new drive. Bad sectors are always an indication of an impending failure.

The drive will die slowly.

You will get more bad sectors until one day it doesnt work. Backup all stuff replcae HD,, gl
