I'm looking for some fast CAS2 PC3200 RAM for a new system. I saw these on newegg and it looked like a pretty good deal for two 1GB sticks of CAS2. Any opinions on these:

First one

Second one

I don't really see the difference between the two besides the color of the heat spreaders. Would this RAM be good for overclocking?

I run two instances of Dark Age of Camelot MMORPG on one computer, while doing a bunch of other junk in the background.

Ok... and what CPU are you using here? Unless you already are using a dual processor/dual core processor setup then 2 gig wouldn't help that much.

Also why in the world would you run 2 games (when you cant play them at the same time) AND run other crap in the background (when, once again, you can only do 1 thing at a time). 2 Gig of RAM isn't going to do crap, you need like a Dual or Quad Opteron setup.

Well I don't see much differance other than one has a pt at the end of the part number. And 2 gig of ram can be very helpful in some cases, so don't let those other guys make you think it's useless. I got a huge improvement going to 2 gig of ram for playing MMORPG's. I have a dual monitor setup, so I can run 2 at once in windowed mode.

The only difference is the colour.. and the Corsair website says they are only meant for CAS2.5 on AMD..

They seem like good chips though!

Thats pretty good. I have the 1GB version of those kits. The only difference between those two is colour.

Also, they're rated at cas2.5 for amd's, but i set mine to 2.5-3-3-7 (cas2), and they run perfectly fine.

That's the exact set I'm running, and it's great! If you need 2 GBs of RAM now, get it. If you're just a gamer, you're not going to see much of a benefit. I only upgraded because I won't be able to ugprade for the next four years, and I'll need it for sure within the next two.

The only thing it has helped in is Half-Life 2. The game doesn't have as much stuttering and it exits instantly now. I can keep more apps running in the background now too.
